On Friday 12 March, Mudgeeraba Special school were generously donated some bikes and helmets from Variety – The children’ charity of Queensland, and their partner Toyota. Our recently elected student councillors gratefully received this donation in front of representatives from these organisations.
Our students love accessing the bikes as part of the HPE program. It helps them to develop their gross motor skills such as bilateral co-ordination, balance and muscular strength. They also learn about road and traffic safety, and develop their social and emotional skills while having a lot of fun!
Our thanks for this generous donation go to Variety – The children’ charity of Queensland, and their partner Toyota.
We value it Takes a Whole Village to Educate a Child.

Positive Behaviour for Learning
During the school week our students will look at this teaching focus in a number of ways. Through explicit and incidental teaching when students are learning in groups, teaching will focus on the skills that are required to demonstrate using positive words and their manners when speaking to staff and their peers. This week students will look for opportunities to use open roads communication methods such as giving a compliment or asking if they could undertake a chore to assist the class such as obtaining items and objects for peers to complete tasks (pencils or glue), or simply by saying please when requesting an item or thank you when they have received an item.
Parents you can partner this learning at home by encouraging your young person to use kind words when they play and chat with their siblings. You can encourage your young person to use their manners when out in the community when they receive their meal in a café or when their home cooked meal or snack is ready. Displaying manners and using polite and positive words are foundations of building good relationships with all those around you.
Please note change of venue for AGM to the A Block Prep Room.
Generous Donations
At the completion of today's P&C meeting P&C scrutineers randomly selected student names from a lucky draw donated by Retina Australia and Circus Rio.
The 10 movie passes were kindly donated by Retina Australia of which they purchased from funds received from many generous businesses.
Circus Rio kindly donated 55 tickets for their shows coming up at Robina between 26 March to 25 April. The Circus Rio Big Top is an accessible venue with wheelchair access and a disabled toilet. They accept companion cards and guests with wheelchairs or access needs will be seated next to each other ringside stage left.
We hope those students who received the tickets today enjoy the show and if you have time it would be great for them to hear feedback from you. You can visit their website at http://www.circusrio.com/ for more details.
We also received a kind donation of 5 children's bicycles through Variety Qld sponsored by Toyota Qld and Hinterland Toyota.
We have kept a record of students who have recived this round of lucky draws and will monitor this for future donations to ensure we provide equity for all students over the year where we possibly can.

The $180.00 payable Student Offer incorporates:
- Book list requirements
- Student Consumables
- Reprographics including printing
- Student Communication Diary
The Student Offer is based on the 40 school weeks. This Student Offer of $180.00 for whole school activities can be paid annually, by semester (2x $90.00), by term (4 x $45.00) or weekly (40 weeks x $5.00). A receipt will be forwarded and collected through the office or via student communication diary.
Classes will require further support for their individual user pays programs and will forward the details and invoice to you in writing once their projects have been approved through P&C Association and Administration, for example class cooking programs. These user pays programs will include: School Performances such as the one held yesterday, swimming, camps etc.
Swimming fees for 2021 will reflect the training required to cover instructors as per our departmental guidelines and we will only offer to select teams in 2021.
Non-payment of the school Student Offer may result in a need for alternative programming for your child. It is crucial for these programs to be successful that all families participate.
The School Offer
The School Offer payable for the year is available in the attached information and published on the schools website.
This also includes the updated Textbook Resource Allowance (TRA) component, which has been deducted to reduce the overall School Offer payable for Years 7 to 12.
The TRA
The Department of Education provides a Textbook and Resource Allowance (TRA) to assist parents with the cost of textbooks and other education resources including Skill Development and Certificate Courses preparation and delivery for all Years 7 to 12 students.
TRA will now be applied to reduce the cost of participation, thus the School Offer you receive will be the full cost of participation in the School Offer excluding the TRA granted to the school via our departmental budget.
School Performance Followup
All students attended the school performance yesterday "All Around The World" in good faith with the request that families follow through payment as soon as possible to assist with payment to the Schools Performance Team.
