Positive Behaviour for Learning
Positive Behaviour for Learning at Mudgeeraba Special School.
Our Three Values of I am Caring, Honest and Respecful underpin our Positive Behavior Learning.
These values are unpacked in explicit and incidental teaching episodes each week. The 6 explicit teachings that underpin the three values of our wonderful school. All classroom teachings, incidents or events can be linked back to the below six learnings.
HONEST - Students will learn the value of being Honest using the two explicit teaching ideas of We Own Our Actions and We Ask For Help.
CARING - Students will learn the value of being Caring during using the two explicit teaching ideas of We Are Kind and We Care About Person Space.
RESPECTFUL - Students will learn the value of being Respectful during using the two explicit teaching ideas of We Use Whole Body Listenting and We Follow Instructions.
During week 3 our students will look at this explicit teaching focus in a number of ways. Through explicit and incidental teaching during learning activities when students are working together, the teacher will intervene with timely reminders for students to use their words to ask for equipment or when interacting with their friends during break-times. Sharing will be explicitly modelled and labelled across the day, when handing out materials for work, art or music.
Covid Guidelines Weekly Updates
Stop the Spread of COVID-19Maintaining the required hygiene and physical distancing measures in place in our school. These are our most effective ways to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Any person who is sick (staff, student or parent) should stay home and if they have any COVID-19 symptoms, no matter how mild, get tested.
Symptoms of COVID-19 can include:
- Fever
- Cough
- Sore throat
- Runny nose
- Loss of taste or smell
- Tiredness and muscle aches
- Vomiting and/or diarrhoea
- Shortness of breath
If students or staff present at school as unwell we will follow up and request an imediate early departure until a medical clearance is provided and confirmation that the person is well.
We need to ensure we stay home if recurring flu like symptoms present to decrease the spread of influenza.
Further information about COVID-19 testing is available via the link below:
If you have any questions, please call your doctor or call 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84).
Our Annual General Meeting will be announced as soon as the auditor has released the report for 2020. We hope to hold the meeting late February early March.
Our P&C Executive will be available at the Meet the Teacher Night.
We hope to have the uniform supplies early this week. We thank you for your patience in this current pandemic climate affecting supplies.
If you have second uniforms these can be forwarded through to Toni Sarten to the school office.
As always working together for our school community.

NDIS Therapy Access on Schoolsite
The departmental guidelines for supporting NDIS Therapists limits our ability to have external NDIS therapists: Speech, Physiotherapits, Occupational and Behaviour / Psychologists onsite for weekly services. We do not have the facilities to create service offerings, ensure student protection and maintain education learning. We have found it is invaluable to support the consultative approach with therapists attending the school for stakeholder meetings. To support this we will need to complete the NDIS Agrrement form. Please direct your enquiries through to Colleen Hope (Principal)
