Families and staff we welcome you to the official commencement of 2021. The Deputy Director General announced that all families are welcome onto school sites again. Parents do not need to sign in, non-parents including visitors, contractors and volunteers however do need to sign in for contact tracing if needed.
Please continue to maintain best practice Covid 19 Guidelines:
1. 1.5 metre Social Distancing
2. Utilise the sanitising stations at front of and throughout the school
3. If unwell stay away from school and undertake a Covid test.
We have new staff in attendance and we welcomed them to our team last week as staff engaged in professional learning from Monday to Friday.
If your young person has any medication requirements please see your class teacher or contact them via the front office until you receive your Communication Book and Seesaw App set up to follow through medical approval for medication administration.
We will anounce our Meet the Teacher Night details in the very near future.
Our Annual Implementation Plan's three Explicit Improvement Agenda for 2021 are:
1. To become a Quality Special School for William Glasser's Choice Theory through verification.
2. Balance Literacy with an emphasis on Teach Like a Champion
3. and Age Appropriate Pedagogies for students from Prep to Year 12 to maximise learning engagement.

Positive Behaviour for Learning at Mudgeeraba Special School.
Our Three Values of I am Caring, Honest and Respecful underpin our Positive Behavior Learning.
These values are unpacked in explicit and incidental teaching episodes each week. The 6 explicit teachings that underpin the three values of our wonderful school. All classroom teachings, incidents or events can be linked back to the below six learnings.
HONEST - Students will learn the value of being Honest using the two explicit teaching ideas of We Own Our Actions and We Ask For Help.
CARING - Students will learn the value of being Caring during using the two explicit teaching ideas of We Are Kind and We Care About Person Space.
RESPECTFUL - Students will learn the value of being Respectful during using the two explicit teaching ideas of We Use Whole Body Listenting and We Follow Instructions.
To support students, families and staff we revised our Student Code of Conduct for 2021 through school committees and P&C.
We engage in stakeholder meetings to develop Positive Behaviour Planning known as an Anxiety Scale to support the Antecedent, Behaviour and Response of support by staff and families to assist students to self regulate. We have a Code System to maintain a supportive environment at Mudgeeraba Special School.
Our Social Emotional social skill program in addition to our values teaching is the Get Happier Program linked to Choice Theory.

P&C Container Refund & Recycling Scheme
Please bring in your Christmas Holidays recycling to the school. The mobile reciptacle is stationed at the front carpark behind the bus shelter in school hours as the students are part of the program and move the wheelie bin between 9.15 am and 2.00 pm.
One Hundred percent of the donations go to our P&C Association.

- Student attendance 8.30 am till 2.45 pm.
- Phone the office and request the classroom. Please always be mindful of students' learning and teachers teaching times.
- If you are late to start the school day please attend the School Office and staff will assist with contacting your class.
- Utilise the students' Communication Diary and Seesaw.
- Request face to face meetings through your class teacher before, after school or in their noncontact time.
