My belief is that schools are not about bricks and mortar but rather the relationships within. Our School Leaders in our school are second to none. I include our Executive Team, Admin Team, Teaching Team, staff and P&C. Our team are professional, dedicated, knowledgeable and very INVESTED.
To highlight the amazing School Leaders that I shoulder my days with each day we have been emailed yesterday this celebration.
...the Education Improvement Branch (EIB), following on from a review they conducted in your school. More specifically, for the outstanding work completed in regards to your schools improvement agenda.
The capability team within State Schools – Performance, is looking to establish a suite of videos to be housed in a ‘resources’ section of the EdStudio for people wishing to investigate inquiry in action, or leadership practices enacting the School Improvement Model. To that end, we are looking to create a range of exemplars of practice where schools share their journey – their what, their how, their learnings. The more they can share their leadership practices enacted, and show strategies (or resources), the better.
We will be asking members of your school leadership team to attend a filming session at Coorparoo.
And in addition we are highlighted in today's Director General Term 3 Address video link.
I celebrate being part of an amazing team at Mudgeeraba Special School and our great State Schooling system of our Department.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Regards
Colleen Hope

Stop the Spread of COVID-19
Maintaining the required hygiene and physical distancing measures in place in our school. These are our most effective ways to stop the spread of COVID-19. It is not preferred however for this term we will maintain limiting adults onsite in large groups.
As always, please to do the right thing to prevent the spread of COVID-19. If any students, families and staff develop symptoms or feel unwell, they should not attend the school, contact their GP and get tested for COVID-19. If students or staff present at school as unwell we will follow up and request an early departure until well.
For advice call your doctor or 13HEALTH (13 43 25 84) straight away.
Border restrictions
You would be aware that the Premier announced that from 1am Saturday 8 August, all local government areas in NSW and the ACT will be declared COVID-19 hotspots.
This means that any person who has been in NSW or the ACT during the past 14 days must not enter Queensland. There are some exceptions subject to strict conditions including Queensland residents returning home who will be subject to government-directed quarantine at their own expense.
Positive Behaviour for Learning
During week 5 our students will revisit the learning from the past 3 weeks of school. Through explicit and incidental teaching, students have explored the skills;
- Communicating how they are feeling about curriculum tasks and engaging safely in the playground.
- Staying with the group and walk on pathways when they travel to and from assemblies and playground areas.
- Personal space, recognising emotions, taking turns and playing by the rules during Health and Physical Education explicit lessons and when engaging in outdoor play with their peers.
Parents can assist with this learning in a home school partnership way by;
- Communicating how they are feeling during the day and playing safely with their siblings at home during weekend activities.
- Providing one step instructions for your young people to walk alongside you when shopping and crossing roads when out the in the community.
- Labelling your own and your young persons emotions as they present during activities within the home. Families could engage in a family game night, which would enable all the family members to model taking turns and playing by the rules.
Sports Day 2020 with a Difference Postponed
Due to the weather today, Sports Day was postponed. The event will now be held on Friday 11th September, 2020. Due to the COVID Health Alert 2020 Sports Day will be very different, it will be a student only event and we will creatively include parents electronically. Burleigh Walk was postponed from earlier in the year and has now been cancelled due to the COVID-19 restrictions.
