Sports Day 2020 with a Difference
Due to the Covid Health alert 2020 Sports Day will be very different. At today's P&C Meeting we discussed unfortunately this year this will be a student only event and we will creatively include parents electronically.
Positive Behaviour for Learning - Week 1
During week 2 our students will look at this teaching focus in a number of ways. Through explicit and incidental teaching, students will explore the skill of communicating how they are feeling about curriculum tasks and engaging safely in the playground.
Parents can assist with this learning in a home school partnership way by asking your young person to communicate how they feel about changes to routines and exciting events.
P&C Volunteer Uniform Coordinator Expression of Interest
The P&C are advertising their Uniform Coordinator. We thank Angela Watson for her outstanding service to the P&C. It is unfortunate that Angela will not be continuing in Term 4 due to relocating from the area.
The My Time Program will fund one morning tea per family.
Many thanks for understanding.
Approved Student Transport Reminder
If your young person is going to be absent from school or going to be transported to school by you or a nominated person, it is parent responsibility to notify Metro coaches or the approved taxi company that your child will not be travelling on their contract transport.
Please feel free to contact the front office administration if you have not got the relevant phone contact details for your child's service and we will supply them.
Thanks for your assistance.
Ant Notification at the Front of the School
It has come to our attention:
"Funnel Ants"
We have noticed ant nests on sections of the nature strip in front of the school. These ants at first observation resemble fire ants. Thanks to a parent who brought the ant nests to our attention we were able to work with biosecurity Queensland to have the ants identified. Ken from Bio Security Queensland has identified the ants as Funnel Ants. Funnel Ants are harmless. The ants build nests with distinctive funnel shaped entrances. Funnel Ants nests are most likely to appear after rain when they dig up the soil to allow their nest to dry out. Funnel Ants only become angry ants when their nest are disturbed unnecessarily.
