Dear Mudgeeraba Special School Families,
As we approach the final two weeks of Term 2, we want to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. It’s been a productive and eventful term, and we are proud of the growth, learning, and achievements across our school community.
Over the past eight weeks, students have engaged in a range of academic and wellbeing programs, excursions, and cultural events. We were especially proud to see the enthusiasm and participation during National Reconciliation Week, as students deepened their understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures.
Our teaching teams have continued to prioritise high-quality learning experiences, and classroom routines have remained strong. It’s been wonderful to see students reaching their learning goals and developing independence.
Teachers are currently finalising student reports, which will be distributed in Week 10. These reports provide a valuable snapshot of your child’s progress and areas for future growth. If you have questions or wish to discuss your child’s learning, please contact your classroom teacher to arrange a meeting.
A sincere thank you to our dedicated staff who continue to go above and beyond every day. Their commitment to student learning, safety, and wellbeing is the heart of our school.
We wish all families a safe and restful holiday break and look forward to welcoming students back for Term 3 on Monday 14 July.
A message from Puggles
We would like to remind all families about the importance of registering for QParents. This secure, user-friendly platform provides easy access to your child’s key school information, including report cards and excursion permission forms. It also allows you to notify the school of absences, update contact details, and view invoices – all from your device. Staying connected through QParents helps you remain informed and engaged in your child’s education. If you haven’t yet signed up, we strongly encourage you to do so. Please contact the office if you need assistance with the registration process.
Yours Sincerely,
Renée Zhu
Principal

Queensland Touch Football Championships
Some of our Senior students went to the Queensland Special Education Touch Football championships on Thursday 12 June. They had an awesome time participating with their peers from across the region, developing teamwork and social skills. Well done everyone for representing our school with such pride and distinction. Thank you to our teaching staff for supporting our students to participate in this event.
Thanks to a generous donation from 10 Cent Tom, students from each block across the school have been given the opportunity to participate in a free breakfast club lead by our Chaplain David. This program is not to replace breakfast, but rather to give students the opportunity to have a snack and create a social opportunity to communicate with peers and staff.

Please find below information about Circus Quirkus at SOPO - Southport RSL Club on 6th July. The show is for local less fortunate children and their families and children & adults with additional needs and their carers. Tickets are completely free for those attending.
Circus Quirkus is a contemporary take on your favourite traditional circuses of ages past. Over the many years of touring, it has brought our audience a funny, hugely entertaining and sometimes death-defying mix of Circus acts, with international renowned clowns, jugglers, acrobats and magicians.
There are 2 shows available: Sunday 6th July: 11am & 2pm.
Tickets can be ordered at (07) 5522 1746 or circusquirkustickets@gmail.com. Just provide a return email address, the number of tickets required and the show you would like to attend. Please send your order ASAP to ensure your request can be fulfilled as tickets are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
It is with pleasure that we invite children between the ages of 5 - 14 to participate in our Sony Foundation Children’s Holiday Camp.
There is no cost involved in participation.
The Camp is a three-day residential camp for children with intellectual and physical disabilities. It is to be held at Loreto College – 415 Cavendish Road, Coorparoo QLD 4151 on September 20-22 September 2025. Campers will meet at Loreto College, to a time conveyed closer to the camp.
The Camp provides three days of care, friendship and entertainment for the children. It also provides respite for families, as senior students, who have taken on training, volunteer to take on the role of Companions for the camp. Each participating child (the camper) has two full time companions who are in turn supported by a team of staff, volunteers and medical facilitators. The Camp offers extensive on-site facilities, medical staff and care of the highest standard.
For the children, the Camp is one of fun with a day at Dreamworld, art, cooking, musical activities and an outdoor adventure.
If you know of children and families who would benefit from participation in the camp, could you please provide them with the enclosed information package. Alternatively, they could contact Mrs Kerri-Anne O’Neill on 30101115 or sonycampapplications@slc.qld.edu.au for an application package.
