Dear Mudgeeraba Special School Families,
Welcome back, families! We hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday break, filled with memorable moments and plenty of time to recharge. As we settle back in, we’re excited to reconnect, dive into new learning experiences, and continue building a positive and engaging school community. Let’s make this term a fantastic one together!
Emergency Services Visit
Today we had the crew from the Robina Fire Station visited the school today, bringing excitement and valuable lessons about fire safety. Students gathered eagerly as firefighters demonstrated the importance of fire prevention and safety protocols. They explored the impressive fire truck, marvelling at the various tools and equipment essential for firefighting. Highlights included hands-on experiences with a fire hose, allowing students to feel like real firefighters as they aimed the powerful spray. The visit not only educated the students about staying safe in emergencies but also inspired a new appreciation for the bravery of firefighters and the vital role they play in the community.
Strategic Planning
Over the last 3 terms our school community has actively engaged in cycles of inquiry and reflection to identify, implement and evaluate teaching and learning approaches for the benefit of all our students. As a collective we have identified the 4 priorities that we will be focusing on over the next four years
At Mudgeeraba Special School we are ‘Invested’ in Student Potential, Reading, Community Connections and Wellbeing.
Adaptive Bikes
The adapted bikes have now arrived and are ready for our students to enjoy! A huge thank you goes to the P&C, the HPE committee, and our families for their generous contributions during the Colour Fun Walk. Thanks to everyone’s combined efforts, our students who cannot ride a traditional bike now have full access to our wonderful bike track.
What is an Adaptive Bike?
‘Adaptive cycles are bikes that are modified to fit the needs of an individual rider. We all have different abilities and challenges, and there are a wide variety of ways that a bicycle or tricycle can be modified to make cycling possible (and fun!) for anyone.’
In 2025, I hope to add a few more bikes in different sizes to our collection.
A reminder that Term 4 is an 11-week term and we finish on the 13th of December.
Warm regards,
Renée Zhu
Principal
