Dear Mudgeeraba Special School Community and Families,

I am thrilled to announce that I have been appointed as the permanent principal of Mudgeeraba Special School. It is an honour to continue serving this wonderful community and to work alongside our dedicated staff, students, and families. Together, we will strive to create an inclusive and nurturing environment where every student can thrive and achieve their full potential. I am excited about the opportunities ahead and look forward to collaborating with you all to ensure the continued success and growth of our school.

Over the next two weeks teachers will be finalising your child’s school report. These will be sent home in their bag on the last day of school so please look out for it. Please let the office know if your family requires 2 copies of your child’s report and we can ensure these are provided to you.

On Wednesday some of our students engaged in showcase of a Non-Verbal Drama presented by our friends at Mt Ommaney Special School. The focus of the sessions was to facilitate creative ways to play without words. The Non-Verbal Drama program is based on the decades-long work of the ‘Open Theatre UK’ organisation. All of the students, and staff, gave glowing reviews!

Some of our Senior students went to the Queensland Special Education touch football championships on Friday 7 June. They were outstanding representatives for our school and had an awesome time participating with their peers from across the region, developing teamwork and social skills. Well done everyone.

In the Travel Training program on Friday 7 June, our Senior students went to the Gold Coast Disability Expo at the Coomera Indoor Sports Centre. They enjoyed exploring the stalls offering programs and services of interest.

For the past few weeks block has been busy making one of their focus books into a movie as part of the Term 2 Positive Behaviour for Learning Celebration! On Friday week 10 (21 June) students will be able to view the finish product of not only their work but each of the blocks in the school. There will be a red carpet showing of their movie where students will be able to use the school values of being Connected, Aware and Responsible. Students, and staff, are encouraged to wear pyjamas as our dress theme.
