Last Wednesday night Sarah and I attended the Local Community Chaplain Trivia Night. It was so wonderful to see so many community members being involved. Thanks David for your lead on this event and your programming that you deliver at our school.
On Saturday I attended Dr Peter Ulrich Ochsenbein Portrait and Plaque Unveiling at Mudgeeraba Foundation. Peter contributed a number of donations to the school before his passing in May. The Foundation are keen to continue to partner with organisations in the Mudgeeraba area.

This World Teachers’ Day, I want to thank our teachers for the extraordinary work they do – every day – in educating, inspiring and nurturing our young people.
The profession of teaching is both challenging and rewarding. It requires hard work, a sharp mind and a big heart. It is a profession that plays a significant role in shaping both the future of our society, as well as our students’ futures.
Today is our opportunity to thank our wonderful teachers – our department employs more than 55,000 of them – for their professionalism, dedication and commitment to inspire and enrich the lives of young Queenslanders.
This year’s theme of ‘Teaching – where the future begins’ highlights the innovative and inspirational practices that teachers bring to their classrooms every day with the aim of creating better futures for their students.
As we do each year, this week landmarks across the state, including Brisbane’s Kurilpa Bridge, the Ipswich Civic Centre, City Hall in Charters Towers, and trees in the Mount Isa CBD, will light up in the World Teachers’ Day colours of purple, blue and green to honour these extraordinary people.
The Queensland Government is committed to supporting our professional and experienced teachers with some of the best pay and conditions in the country.
We are also committed to attracting more high-quality teachers by supporting people to study teaching degrees and transition to employment as teachers in Queensland state schools, through scholarship, grant, internship, and pathway programs.
We are working hard at both the state and national level to attract and retain the teachers we need now and in the future.
Today also marks the end of State Education Week, our week-long celebration of state schools and our commitment to delivering quality education to all Queensland children.
Please join me today in thanking and applauding all our teachers.
Minister for Education, Minister for Industrial Relations and Minister for Racing

Hi Mudgeeraba Special School Community.
Once again, I would like to extend my thanks to our Beautiful staff for the amazing Art Show they hosted last night. It was a lovely night with lots happening, not the least of which was the student’s stunning art on Display. Thank you Mudgee Special, you’ve outdone yourselves again.
For those of you who are 50 and over this one’s for you. One of the many times I’ve been surfing the internet for potential benefits for our community, I came across
National Seniors Australia. This is a not for profit organisation that gives a voice to many issues surrounding Seniors aged 50 and over. Additionally, they offer a National Seniors Card which offers a wide range of discounts to members. There is a fee to join which is $49.50 for singles and $80 for a joint membership. I joined in December last year and have saved hundreds in the 10 months I’ve been a member so despite the fee, you’ll be well ahead.
If you’d like to know more, click on the link below:
www.nationalseniors.com.au
If you’d like to take a look at the discounts available, click on the member’s column on the website and you’ll see “discount” is the fourth option down.
This coming Tuesday 31st October at My Time, Toni is hosting an information session with Attwood Marshall. Larissa and Natalie have kindly allocated some time out of
their busy schedules to answer questions you may have regarding legal issues from 9.30am.
Toni has started an adult’s library which can also be located in the Living Skills Room. If you wish to add some unwanted books or have a browse, the library can be accessed during My Time on Tuesdays.
The next uniform shop day is also this coming Tuesday 31st October 8.30am-9.30am. We are very excited that our new Uniform Office is finalised in Q Block and we will soon be relocating.
Have a great weekend and take care everyone.
