Committed to being a Quality School.
In the last few weeks we have much to celebrate in maintaining our commitment to being a Quality School.
On Monday 7 colleagues completed their 27 hours of Basic Intensive Training that I delivered over the last term. They committed two and a half hours after school each week to complete their credential.
We have been working with Rob Stones Senior Faculty Glasser Member who has been leading to teams of forty-one leaders across our Special Schools and local primary schools. Today the first team of twenty completed their thirty- two hour prgram in Leadership By Design. The team explored leadership researchers and best practice processes to ensure we build capable leaders to ensure student learning outcomes and walk alongside teachers and teacher aides to build their capacity to be quality educators. In today's accomplished group included our Business Manager Gabby and Jo from Coomera Special.
We also welcomed Crest Secondary School from Singapore last Friday. Mr Seet Tait Hee the Principal was very commendary about our school community as you will read further in the newsletter.
We look forward to our community day at Somerset College Mini Olympics on Monday.
Yours in Education
Colleen Hope
Principal

Junior Secondary Skill Development
Junior Secondary students engage in a range of on-campus skill development elective programs to develop their literacy, numeracy and vocational work skills. These programs are also aligned to Certificate I courses that they will participate in the Senior phase of learning. Here are some of our students engaging in the Jewellery making elective program.
All students received previously their permission notices outlining the day.
Students who come to school via Metro Transport or Taxis will first come to school as per usual and then travel by Metro buses to Somerset College.
Families whose students come to school via family, or carer support, please take them directly to Somerset College where staff will meet them as usual. There will be markers to assist.
All students not going home after the event is completed will travel via Metro Transport back to School until school closes and then depart.
We thank our P&C for assisting with sponsorship of the transport for a successful day.

Hi Mudgeeraba Special School Community.
For those of you who weren’t aware, today is Principal’s Day. This is a great opportunity to express our gratitude to our wonderful Principal, Colleen Hope.
I know I appreciate many things about Colleen.
Colleen is a kind, caring person who understands us not only because she has a special person in her life but also because she’s a warm loving person with a big heart.
One of Colleens’ attributes that stands out for me is the way she jumps in and “gets her hands dirty” alongside her staff and students.
How many Principals do you know would dress up as Woody from Toy Story and perform a Student/Teacher item for the Bi-annual Mudgee Special School concert?
I certainly don’t know of many, if any.
Happy Principal’s Day Colleen. Thank You for your dedication to your staff, students and families. We hope you feel just as appreciated by us as we do by you.
If you haven’t seen the My Time calendar yet, this coming Tuesday 8th, Toni has a guest speaker, Vicky Rose. Vicky is from the Nerang Neighbourhood Centre and is coming to give us information on Grants and New Zealand Citizenship. So join us for a cuppa, we’d love to see you.
The next uniform shop day is this coming Tuesday 8th August, 8.30am-9.30am.
Tomorrow our Beautiful staff are hosting another BBQ at Bunnings Robina to assist our Graduating Students and their families cover some of the costs of Graduation and Schoolies at the end of the year. Please come and grab a snag in support of our amazing Seniors.
Have a great weekend and take care everyone.
Paula.
(Uniform Coordinator and Vice President of P&C)
Wellbeing: Timeout QLD Health for Ill Health
Mudgeeraba Special School families thanks for your diligence in supporting your students at home when they are unwell. Unfortunately there is still a range of flu and gastro related illnesses in the community.
Keeping students, families and staff well is a shared responsibility and we are following health advice when we all work together. In this fortnight newsletter we advise that families have been enacting the health policy and keeping their young people at home.
If you have any queries please contact through the office our departmental nurse Bec Hayden or myself as Principal.
Regards
Colleen Hope
