Staffing our schools continues to be a focussed space and we have been recruiting widely to replace staff movements. We thank you for your understanding and patience at this time. Our leadership requires "flexibility and agility" in this time in workplaces regarding recruitment.
Class Staffing Class Changes
- Jade Afflick-Dixon - Middle 10 has been replaced by Francine Frazer-Poynting due to family reasons
We have further new students enrolling in coming weeks and supporting students is impacting on classroom designs and I will contact families week 3 as movement is needed.
Facilities Update:
On Monday 24 July and Tuesday 25 July there will be air-con installation replacement in Junior 2 which will affect Junior 1 and 2 classrooms. The classes will relocate to Q Block Room Q 17 and 19 for these 2 days to follow workplace health and safety practices. We ask Junior 3 and 4 classes to be concious of not accessing Junior 1 and 2 classrooms during these days. Any further updates will be placed on Seesaw to families. The installation is being carried out by an approved contractor and fully funded by our department.
Curriculum:
Individual Curriculum and Personal Future Action Plan meetings are underway and we welcome your face to face involvement in these meetings as advocates to your young people to ensure that the goals are targeted and enactable on order for each student to flourish.
We will forward home separately from this newsletter Media Release Forms to update students' images being shared for our school's celebrations.
Yours in Education
Colleen Hope
Principal

Junior Secondary students had their camp at Tallebudgera last week (Wednesday 12 July – Friday 14 July). They had a wonderful time participating in a range of activities including canoeing, rock-climbing, circus skills, catapults, orienteering and a disco. It was great to see the students step out of their comfort zone and try so many new things. A big thank you to all our staff for being so invested and supporting our students on this wonderful experience. Also, thank you to the staff at Tallebudgera Outdoor and Environmental Centre for being such amazing hosts.

Book Week 19 - 25 August Date Claimer
Our annual Book week events will be held this year from 19th to 25th August, including our dress up as your favourite book character day which will be Tuesday 22nd August. Friday 25th August students will attend The Super Science Circus Show as a lead to Science Week. More information will be provided closer to the date.
Hi Mudgeeraba Special School Community.
Welcome back to Term 3.
I hope you all enjoyed the holidays and are now settled back into the school routine.
Did you know that we can register our young people with the Police? In the event that a young person goes missing, the police will already have their details in their system, saving valuable time. If you would like to register your young person, simply call your local Police Station and they will advise you from there.
I would just like to take a few minutes to appreciate our amazing school, in particular our staff.
Last week we were lucky enough to enjoy photos from the Junior Secondary Camp on the school’s Facebook page. For some of our young people, it can be a challenge getting through each day in a familiar environment, much less an unknown location and a different routine. But does that stop our staff at Mudgee Special providing OUR kids with the experiences and normality of a main stream school? Absolutely not!
If you haven’t seen them already, I encourage you to take a look at the MSSS Facebook page where you’ll witness the love, dedication and sheer determination of our staff as they offer our kids every opportunity to experience what their neuro-typical counterparts would in a mainstream school. From canoeing to rock wall climbing, Junior Secondary did it all, all with the support of our Beautiful staff. Truly Amazing! (Students photographed have media release permission)
The next uniform shop day is this coming Tuesday 25th July, 8.30am-9.30am.
Have a great fortnight and take care everyone.
Paula.
(Uniform Coordinator and Vice President of P&C)
Wellbeing: Timeout QLD Health for Ill Health
Mudgeeraba Special School families thanks for your diligence in supporting your students at home when they are unwell. Unfortunately there is still a range of flu and gastro related illnesses in the community.
Keeping students, families and staff well is a shared responsibility and we are following health advice when we all work together. In this fortnight newsletter we advise that families have been enacting the health policy and keeping their young people at home.
If you have any queries please contact through the office our departmental nurse Bec Hayden or myself as Principal.
Regards
Colleen Hope
