Positive Behaviour for Learning - Value of the Week
During the school week our students will look at this explicit teaching focus in a number of ways. When engaging in learning activities explicit instructions form part of everyday teaching sequences. Student’s will engage in the morning routine, and listen to instructions from the teaching staff. Student’s will listen to adults during community outings and teachers will explicitly teach the students to identify trusted adults within the community.
Parents and carers you can assist with this learning by providing your young person with simple one step instructions and following up with specific praise when they are carried out. When you are out in the community you can point out trusted adults such as the police and other trusted members of the community to reinforce that we listen to adults.
Families our first School Council Performance is scheduled for next Thursday 20th February. Students will be exposed to and learn the skill of being resilient through the dramatic performance. Brilliant at being Resilient uses stories, poetry, fractured fairy tales, illusions and loads of humour to explore the value of resilience and tolerance as well as getting across the message that bullying is not acceptable. Illusions are a great way of showing that what you see is not always what has actually happened.
Student Council and Sport Captain Assembly
All students across the school have been involved in the student council election process to determine student council representatives for 2020. Senior school students have also been involved in the sports captain process to determine the house captains for the Dingoes, Wallabies, Emus and Magpies. Class nominees presented their speeches last Monday to their cohort. After completing their speeches, voting occurred which determined the representatives for each phase of learning. If your young person is elected as a student councillor or sport house captain, you would have received an invitation in your young person’s communication book for student councillors and sporting house captains to be congratulated on the full school assembly this week on Monday 17th of February. Student councillors will attend weekly student council meetings to further develop their leadership capabilities.
- Phone the office and request the classroom. Please always be mindful of students' learning and teachers teaching times.
- Utilise the students' Communication Diary
- Request face to face meetings through your class teacher.
