Our school review is an opportunity to share your involvement in our school's directions.
Our school is scheduled for a review from 31 May to 2 June 2023
The review team will be focused on the nine domains for the National School Improvement Tool and seeking evidence of our engagement for each domain:
- An explicit improvement agenda
- Analysis and discussion of data
- A culture that promotes learning
- Targeted use of school resources
- An expert teaching team
- Systematic curriculum delivery
- Differentiated teaching and learning
- Effective pedagogical practices
- School-community partnerships
This process is very similar to our self review and accrediation that we achieved in September 2022 to become the first Glasser International Quality Special School. I will continue to provide information over the coming week's.
Community partnerships are a significant indicator for a strong and healthy school community. We are pleased to announce that Toni Sarten has accepted the position of My Time Facilitator partnered with Play Matters following the recruitment process this week. She will commence on Tuesday 2 May and we will advertise the updated parent professional plan.
Yours in Education

Hi Mudgeeraba Special School Community.
Welcome back to Term 2
I hope you all enjoyed your Easter break.
We’re fast approaching our first fundraising event for the year which will be held on Saturday the 6th May. If you or someone you know wants to enjoy a fun night out at Flamingo Bingo, you can secure your spot by purchasing your tickets here: www.facebook.com/flamingobingogc/
This link will give you additional information if you wish to attend such as location, price, etc.
One of the challenges many of us face with our young people is personal hygiene/toileting. When our family was going through this, we experienced a range of emotions, largely I think because we didn’t know how to approach it.
One of the resources that was recommended to me was an animated video which in a fun way, explains toileting to our young ones. I advise parents watch this first to ensure you are satisfied with your child accessing this.
The link for Toms’ Toilet Triumph is : https://vimeo.com/587597722
There are also resources like toileting reward charts that may be something your child might respond to. Link : https://www.rewardcharts4kids.com/potty-training-chart/
This site offers many free charts for various issues like behaviour, chores, etc
I hope this information is of some help to those of you who are facing this stage with your child
Have a great weekend everyone.
Take care,
Paula
NDIS Review through P&C Association
IMPORTANT : The NDIS Review – Have your say
The Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme, the Hon Bill Shorten MP, has appointed a panel to independently review the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
The NDIS Review will look at the design, operations and sustainability of the NDIS. It will also look at ways to make the market and workforce more responsive, supportive and sustainable.
An overarching goal of the Review is to put people with disability back at the centre of the NDIS. It aims to help restore trust, confidence and pride in the NDIS. Trust is vital for participants, their families, carers, nominees and the broader community.
The Review involves two parts:
- Part 1 examines the design, operations and sustainability of the NDIS.
- Part 2 examines ways to build a more responsive, supportive and sustainable market and workforce.
The Terms of Reference guide the NDIS Review and can be seen on www.ndisreview.gov.au/about/terms-of-reference.
The Review Panel will engage with all stakeholders. This will ensure the Review is guided by participant and community feedback.
The Review will build on what you and others have already said to the government in previous reviews and you are invited to engage with the Panel.
Learn more about having your say on the NDIS on www.ndisreview.gov.au/haveyoursay.
Alternatively, you can write to the following address:-
NDIS Review Secretariat
Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet
PO Box 6500
CANBERRA ACT 2600
The final report provided by the Review Panel will be presented to the States Governments Disability Reform Ministers by October 2023.
This is a wonderful opportunity for NDIS participants to provide input seeking the Federal Government to correct the inadequacies and inequities of the NDIS and ensure that the funds are allocated fairly to the most needy people with disabilities.
I encourage NDIS participants to express your views to the Review Panel as soon as possible and desirably by the 30 April 2023 so that they can be considered.

Wonder Recycling Rewards for Schools
Exciting news! We have signed up for the 'Wonder Recycling Rewards' program. The aim is to collect bread bags, add them to the collection boxes (which will be located around the school). At the end of the campaign, points will be earned for each recycled bread bag and will be exchanged for sports equipment!
