Mudgeeraba Special School Families our Annual Improvement Plan for 2023 was endorsed by our Assistant Regional Director Susan Dalton and P&C Executive and President Anne Conroy at the P&C meeting on 8 March. I presented on behalf of our executive our cornerstones for the year at the meeting. This is a significant year as we are in our final year of our Quadrennial Plan. Our School Review will be 31 May to 2 June in Term 2. The review will be conducted by three external colleagues having conversations with staff and community against the Heirarchy Tool of 9 Domains. Attached is a copy of School Improvement documentation and a fact sheet for School Reviews.
we have some exciting end of term events upcoming with Senior School Markets on Monday at Robina Town Centre and Easter celebrations. Your support of young people will be valued.
The weather continues to be very warm and we will monitor outdoor programs to support young people as it is affecting students in general and particularly those with medical conditions. Wellbeing for all is paramount to us as a community.
Yours in Education

School Community we are seeking your assistance with a medication bumbag that has been misplaced for the student's family and school. Attached is an image of the bag that is used across our school for students with Emergency Health Plans to be unique to Mudgeeraba Special School with assistance of our EQ Nurses. This Bumbag has enclosed medication for seizures and Emergency Health Plans confidentially for Joshua Bailey. We know the black clip has a broken section. We are concious that classes have been moving many class recources and that it might have been carefully placed in storage. Families if it has gone home by mistake your assistance with return will be appreciated.

Play Connect at the Queensland Paediatric Allied Health Centre
Junior 1 and Junior 3 students attended the Play Connect at the Queensland Paediatric Allied Health Centre. They participated in indoor and outdoor activities, sensory play, singing, music and movement, imaginative play and story time! Thank you Play Connect Playgroup, we had a ball!
Senior School Skill Development
Our Senior Students participate in a range of skill development programs with local businesses in the community. Here are some photos of our students at the Hinterland Early Learning Centre, Raba Urban Farm and Domino’s Pizza in Mudgeeraba. We are very grateful to our business partners for providing relevant, real-world opportunities for our students to develop and showcase their skills.
Hi Mudgeeraba Special School Community.
It’s hard to believe we’re fast approaching the end of Term one of 2023 at Mudgee Special. It’s been a busy one and I’m sure the remainder of the year holds many more exciting things for our Beautiful school community.
Our last P&C meeting was the 8/3/2023 at 6pm. Ros Bates MP Mudgeeraba attended our meeting not only to update us with the political side of her position, but to present our school with a $35,000 cheque acquired from applying for a government Community Gaming Fund Grant. Not a bad start to the year for our Beautiful school. This grant will support our holding funds from donations from Bond university Medical Program and Pelerman Foundation for our refurbished Bike Track. We also thank Michaela Austin Teacher for her assistance with the writing of the grant.
An ongoing issue within our school community has been the lack of sufficient transport signage surrounding our school neighbourhood. This includes flashing speed signs and a Lollypop person on the crossings within our schools’ vicinity.
During the P&C meeting, Ros committed to addressing the absence of signage around our school on School and Robert Streets and we thank her for committing to the wellbeing of our students and their families/carers.
For those of you who have a young person with the diagnosis of Autism and requiring assistance with interactions in their community, I have a link that may help.
This is a link for an Autism Alert card which may assist our special young people in communicating their needs to others : https://www.autismspectrum.org.au/alert-card
In the meantime, I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
Take care everyone,
Paula.

Wonder Recycling Rewards for Schools
Exciting news! We have signed up for the 'Wonder Recycling Rewards' program. The aim is to collect bread bags, add them to the collection boxes (which will be located around the school). At the end of the campaign, points will be earned for each recycled bread bag and will be exchanged for sports equipment!
