Mudgeeraba Special School Families our department has consulted widely and developed the updated Strategic Plan branded " Equity and Excellence". This is embedded in the newsletter for your information. I will present this alignment on Wednesday 8 March at our P&C meeting to be held at 6 pm in A Block in the Exec Area.
We have seen wonderful learning snapshots over the last two weeks with the CAR Show and this week's assembly linked to our Student Wellbeing Program The Get Happier School and Positive Behaviour Learning, 304.9 Radio, The Ride A thon, Senior School BBQ Fundraiser, Case Management and Curriculum Chats for Teachers and so much more.
You will be receiving the students' Individual Curriculum Plan or Personal Future Action Plans and Student At A Glance Data document in respomse to your interview meetings held in the last few weeks. These personalised goals reflect "Equity and Excellence" planning to focus on student learning coupled with the delivering of the teachers Unit Of Work delivering the Australian Curriculum for Prep to Year 9 students and Certificate Courses for Seniors 10 to 12.
Learning is life long and creating SMART goals helps our students and staff to move our students on an achievable trajectory.
Yours in Education
Colleen Hope

This week was filled with fun! Lower Middle were invited to participate in the inclusion cricket initiative which aimed for students to practise and learn skills like bowling balls, catching, aiming and taking turns. The students in Middle One enjoyed their time so much – Middle One reported it being their favourite part of the week! Their favourite activity was throwing a ball at a net and catching it. The entire lower middle cohort had a blast and are so appreciative of Paddy and George for their patience and kindness.

On Thursday our new student leaders attended their first Student Council meeting for 2023. They learnt about leadership qualities and who can be a leader- anyone can! Students graphically represented a self portrait of a leader and used their alternative pencil to write a leadership quality they have. They shared their new leadership knowledge with their cohorts on return to their classroom.
The 2023 MSSS Car Show provided an opportunity for each class to showcase their builds. With the focus on introducing Choice Theory concepts through the Get Happier Project car components (Steering Wheel, Drivers Seat, Engine, Wheels and Windscreen) each class was given the task of creating a car. On Wednesday every car was displayed in the assembly area ‘car park’ where students could view and vote for their favourite. All the votes were counted and Middle 7 was awarded ‘2023 Best Overall Car’.

Sleep is essential to so many areas of your wellbeing. Sleep refreshes the mind, repairs the body, and is essential in learning and showing up with clarity and vitality.
Sleep can help with:
· Your immune system
· Your thinking & mindset
· Your stress levels
· Your physical performance and energy
· Your mood
Are you getting enough Sleep?
These are the recommended hours in the picture.
If you know you aren't here are some ways you can prioritise more sleep.
· Plan a bedtime routine that limits caffeine or sugar drinks (soda), bright lights, and screen time before bed.
· Have a look at your environment. The optimal night’s sleep happens in a cool, dark, and quiet space.
Prioritising getting a good night’s sleep can allow your body and mind to feel more energised, productive, and ready to take on the day. For more information on sleep, visit the Headspace website for more resources.
P&C General Meeting 8 March and AGM 22 March Date Claimer
Annual General Meeting P&C Association of Mudgeeraba Special School to be held on Wednesday 22 March morning at 9.30 am.
Please find the roles and descritptions of our Executive and Non Executive Positions that you might like to consider. We will support incoming colleagues with handover and access to training. We value your volunteering support at Mudgee.
Hi Mudgeeraba Special School Community.
As many of you would know, Mudgee Special staff hosted a fundraising BBQ last Saturday to assist families of graduating students with the cost of Graduation dinner and Schoolies to be held later this year.
Not only is this an opportunity to fundraise, but it’s one of many opportunities for families to get involved and work alongside our beautiful staff.
After attending about 3 of these BBQ’s, I can tell you they’re loads of fun and very rewarding not only to have a hand in raising money for the cause, but to be able to work with the staff as a team.
That said, I’d like to thank our beautiful staff for hosting and running this fundraising event each year.
I know I am very appreciative of the fact that after supporting our kids all week at school, you then give up your time on the weekend to run a BBQ to assist families with the financial side of graduating. Truly Amazing!
The next P&C meeting is this coming Wednesday the 8th March so if you’d like to join us to see what’s on the agenda for our school, please come along and have your say and build your social resources. We’d love to see you!
We also would like to share a link that might provide potential benefefits to families which is a tax offset that some families may be entitled to.
In the meantime, I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
Take care everyone,
Paula.
