Mudgeeraba School Community
It is with full hearts that we feedback to you surrounding the wonderful and informative presentations delivered to you the parent community on our Meet the Teaching Team night for 2020. Our teams work very hard to display work and build creative literacy working and learning spaces and this was certainly evident across school. During the night our teaching teams handed out packs which contained Media Permission Forms, Sunscreen and Mosquito Policies, if your young person brings a device to school to increase their communicative abilities and access the curriculum, please fill out and sign these vital documents.
Please alert us if you do not receive the global texts from our school as these contain pertinent information surrounding school events.
Appreciation must go to Roger Moore & the team at Woolworths Mudgeeraba for their kind sponsorship for our meal together on Wednesday night.
Positive Behaviour for Learning - Value of the Week
During the school week our students will look at this explicit teaching focus in a number of ways. Through explicit and incidental teaching during learning activities when students are working together, the teacher will intervene with timely reminders to use words to ask for equipment or when interacting with their friends during breaktimes. Sharing can be explicity modelled and labelled across the day, when handing out materials for work, art or music.
Parents and carers you can assist with this learning by labelling the concept of sharing when preparing meals or when sharing space around the home.
Back to School Forms:
This week students should have received a back to school forms pack containing permission forms for sunscreen application, mosquito repellent, media consent and Bring Your Own Device (only if your young person brings a device to school), please find them reattached for your convenience. Please fill in and return these forms as soon as possible to your young person's classroom teacher. Please see below the 2020 Sun Smart Policy which outlines the actions our school community is taking to demonstrate sun safety at Mudgeeraba Special School.
Student Council and Sport Captains
All students across the school have been involved in the student council election process. Senior school students have also been involved in the sports captain process which determines the sporting captains for the Dingoes, Wallabies, Emus and Magpies. They have been developing speech writing and presentation skills when constructing and presenting speeches to classmates. A class nominee has been elected through a voting process to present to their cohort. These class nominees will present their speeches on Monday 10th February from 12:30-1:30 for Junior and Middle and 1:30-2:30 for Junior Secondary and Senior nominees. When students have completed their speeches, voting will occur to conclude the process with participants elected for each phase of learning. Student councillors and sports captains will be congratulated on the full school assembly in week 4 then will attend weekly student council meetings to further develop their leadership capabilities.
Our school is partnering with a new program called COACH to help families in challenging places flourish. With the support and encouragement of trained mentors, who will meet with families weekly or fortnightly for twelve months, the participants will work toward life goals and positive change. This is a free service.
At times do you feel isolated, overwhelmed or anxious? Are you struggling to meet your financial budget, find employment or make friends? Would you like an encouraging, non-judgemental friend to talk with who can assist in overcoming the challenges of life?
Mudgeeraba Special School is partnering with the COACH program for parents who would like support to manage their way into a better life.
