Dear Parents and Community,
We had a fantastic start to term 4, and there have been many outstanding learning opportunities that need to be recognised.
First Glasser International Special School
We received the First Glasser International School certification at the end of the previous academic term, making us the first special school in the entire world. With Colleen Hope's vision, this astounding feat got its start many years ago. We were able to present our amazing school and the larger community with pride to show that we met the standards. All of the staff, family, and students deserve praise for ensuring that our school community bases its methods of operation on solid relationships.
Writing at Mudgeeraba
Our new writing framework has been clearly taught by our teachers, and as a result, our kids have developed letter/sound awareness while concentrating on articulating important concepts.
One of the highlights has been how many students have rewritten well-known literature by altering the settings, characters, or issues. We are eager for the texts to be in the library because we have seen them being published and used proudly in classrooms.
2023 Planning
In order to build ourselves up for an even greater 2023, we are working incredibly hard to achieve greatness in term 4. Please contact the office if you plan to leave Mudgeeraba Special School so that planning can be supported. Every teacher is participating in the class design process, and we will do our best to place students appropriately and create a supportive environment. Please be patient with us while we complete this process; it takes us several drafts to achieve anything close to perfect.
Executive Team
For the first three days of week two this week, I'll be in Brisbane for the Principal Conference. Please get in touch with Steve Dowlan, who will help you, if you need anything. This week, Bree Nairn returns as well, and everyone is thrilled to have her back at school.
I wish all families the best for the duration of this term and look forward to connecting with you at one of the many occasions scheduled this term.
Kind regards
Natasha Markwick
Acting Principal

On Thursday (6 October) our school community was visited by Robina Fire station. Our students, with the help of Puggles, learnt all about the importance of fire safety and what to do if there is a fire. Thank you Robina Fire station for educating our school community.
On Saturday 8 October, some of our students, parents and staff hosted a BBQ at Bunnings in Robina to raise money for the new bike track. From this day we raised $1800 which is a fantastic effort. Thank you to everyone who helped out.

On Saturday 8th October, some Junior Secondary and Senior School students represented Mudgeeraba Special School at the Somerset Gift. The Somerset Gift is an event held in partnership with the Queensland Athletic League and is one of the unique sporting events held by Somerset College. Mudgeeraba Special School students volunteered collecting the race bibs from the runners then ran in an event. Students received medals from their race and a podium finish.
