Your P&C is writing to Ms Ros Bates, State Member for Mudgeeraba and Karen Andrews, Federal Member for McPherson seeking their support for the continuation of the current bus system for transporting students to/from school.
In 2018, the Federal Government through the NDIA commenced a review of the School Assisted Transport Program with the aim of having the costs for this bus transport included in individual NDIS plans. To achieve this, the review team proposed several options which our P&C and school advised were impractical and presented safety and security issues for our students.
Following representations from Special Schools and their P&C’s the Government extended the current bus arrangements until December 2023.
This is only 15 months away and parents, schools and bus operators need sufficient time to make arrangements for whatever the new system will be.
