Dear Parents and Community,
The start to the school year has been unlike any of us in education have ever experienced before. Despite the challenges of Term 1, however, I am tremendously proud of what our school has achieved. Mudgee is truly magnificent and I am grateful to the amazing work of everyone throughout the school community.
I want to celebrate some of the achievements;
- Staff working as a team to ensure students are being provided the best learning environment.
- Implementing the Talk 4 Writing program.
- AAP being alive across the P-12 campus!
- PBL strengthened by our strong foundations.
- Holding our inaugural Mudgeeraba Special School Car Show. Students worked together to develop their class car while learning about Choice Theory through the Get Happier Project (a Social and Emotional learning program linked to our PBL framework).
- Increasing the number of staff that we have trained in Choice Theory
- Working in collaboration with other schools and staff from our region
We also welcomed our new school Mascot, Puggles, to the school. Our P&C Association were the very first recipients of awards from Puggles with the help of Councillor Glenn Tozer. Parents are the core of our school community and we encourage others to come along and work with this wonderful team.
On Friday 1 April we also celebrated our amazing community helpers with a spotlight on the great work our Surf Lifesavers do to keep us safe on the beach. Students and staff dressed in red and yellow and demonstrated sun safety when engaging in activities around sun and surf awareness.

It was a remarkable term 1, and we look forward to building on these achievements this term 2.
Your opinion is important to us! We welcomed a face to face but had limited numbers to run a session, therefore we will be sending you out a survey in the coming weeks for your feedback to ensure our school community continues with its positive partnerships with families and the wider community. We truly believe that we need to all work together and continue to build the school connectedness that works for Mudgeeraba Special School and families. Please watch out for this survey, your opinion really matters to me and the wider school community.
As previously advised, Colleen Hope will extend her leave into term 2 to support her family. During this time, I will continue to act in the Principal position, while Danielle Turner will act as Deputy Principal, and Graeme Clancy will act as Head of Curriculum. These are exciting opportunities for Danielle and Graeme, and I look forward to seeing them grow in their new roles.
Kind regards
Natasha Markwick
Acting Principal

The Senior School Markets returned to Robina Town Centre on Monday 21 March. At the markets the students did a fantastic job selling products that they made in their Certificate I courses. They developed their skills in communication, teamwork, money handling, and other important vocational tasks. Well done to all students and staff involved.
