Tuesday 3rd of December 2019 is International Day of People with Disability.

International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is a United Nations sanctioned day that aims to promote an understanding of people with disability and encourage support for their dignity, rights and well-being.

The day also seeks to increase awareness of the benefits of the integration of people with disability in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.

What better way for us to celebrate this dedicated day on Tuesday evening showcasing our Biennial Concert "A Night at the Disco"?

We hope you will share wide and far to ensure your family and friends come along to The Star Theatre at Broadbeach to be seated by 5.45 pm with show starting at 6 pm.

Students will have an early finish on Tuesday at 12 pm to support staff enterprise bargaining agreements to be in attendance at the concert under a working arrangement.

This is a cultural event of just over two decades and a night not to be missed. Your young people have been practising for this Arts Event throughout the year as a key learning area of the Australian Curriculum.

The P&C Association thank our community for their kind donations towards our final raffle of the year.

Loreto College from Ballarat will be bringing their renowned Choir and Band to visit us on Wednesday 4 December at 9.30 am to perform a few of their favourite songs on the biennial tour. to Queensland. We are so glad they have included us on their 2019 Tour. All Welcome!

We have invested in our school sign and updated the infrastructure with our updated logo and added an electronic LED panel. We await the electrical installation to launch our new message board. Look out in 2020 as you come up Robert Street.

Thank you families for supporting your young person with their wellbeing. If students are unwell it is best to let them rest at home. We have been very concious about the heat and smoke at a school level through constant updates from our department. We thank you for monitoring wellness.

All students in the Senior School are engaged in Certificate I in Active Volunteering. Over the year, students volunteer their time on a Thursday to complete the practical elements of their learning.

We value our partnerships with local businesses and community organisations that give our students this opportunity on a weekly basis. This reciprocal arrangement means that businesses and community organisations benefit from our volunteers, while our students are learning and practicing valuable skills in a real-life setting.

Term 4 Week

MyTime Graduation

MyTime invites you to End of Year lunch on Wednesday the 11^th of December to celebrate the end of the 2019 school year and to say farewell to the graduating class of 2019.

Where: Woodchoppers Inn Mudgeeraba

When: 12pm or meet at the school at 11.15 am to walk over

Cost: Mytime will be funding one meal per family and additional meals will be $16.00 per head

Menu:

Stone & Wood Beer Battered Fish & Chips
Mid West Pulled Pork Burger
Woodchoppers Pot Pie of the Day
Buttermilk Chicken chips and slaw
Lunch Calamari & chips

*All meals include a glass of wine for parents or a soft drink for kids/guests. We remind ourselves of protocols as this is a school event.

Orders and money are due to the office by Friday the 6^th December.

Fleays Wildlife

FREE WILDLIFE ADVENTURE- FLEAYS WILDLIFE PARK

ALL AGES WELCOME

It’s that time of year again! Teenage Adventure Camps Qld is holding our annual outings for the local special needs and disadvantaged children and their families.

This years’ outings will be held on Saturday 14^th December.

The aim is to give these children and families a wonderful outing. Tickets have been sponsored by the local business community and the outing is completely free for those attending. Those invited will have the opportunity to see all of the shows the Wildlife Park has to offer such as:

Nocturnal House – sneak a peek at some of Australia’s rarest nocturnal animals
Creatures of the night show – discover the mysteries of the animals of the night (gliders, possums & owls)
Wallaby Walk – meet some of Australia’s iconic animals as park rangers feed the wallabies & emus
Fleay’sin Flight Show
Crocodile feeding
Cassowary Quest Presentation
Creature feature presentation – experience some of Australia’s native wildlife up close.

There will also be a free sausage sizzle & drink provided on the day.

To help facilitate the distribution of tickets we request that you send an expression of interest

Due to the limited availability of tickets the P&C considers a criterion of confirmation, eg. Families who have not received tickets to events in the last 12 months first.

Our aim is to provide equity across the school community.
