Dear Mudgeeraba Special School Families,

This is the last newsletter for the term with the last day before the school holidays being Friday the 19th of September next Monday. I hope everyone has a fun and relaxing holiday break and we will see you all back at Mudgee for the start of the final term of the year on Tuesday the 7th of October.

As is always the case at Mudgee, our school has been a very busy place to work and learn in recent times.

A big thank you to all the dads, grandfathers, uncles and special male figures who joined us for our Father’s Day celebrations last week. It was wonderful to see so many families come together to share in the activities and make the day such a memorable occasion for our students. We would also like to sincerely thank our P&C for their efforts in running the Father’s Day stall—your hard work and support are greatly appreciated, and the students loved having the opportunity to choose special gifts.

Students also participated in our annual Book Parade. The creativity and effort that went into the costumes was simply amazing, and it was fantastic to see our students proudly showcasing their favourite book characters. A big thank you to families for supporting this event and helping to foster a love of reading across our school.

All our students from Early Years to the Upper Middle Years have been participating in swimming lessons throughout Term 2. We have been travelling to the Somerset Aquatic Centre each week by school bus. It has been a joy to watch our students grow in confidence each week, relishing their time in the pool. We are thankful to our teachers, teaching assistants and families for supporting our swimming program.

This week, our Junior Secondary students are away on camp and enjoying a range of exciting activities. Camp is always a fantastic opportunity for students to challenge themselves, build friendships and develop independence. We look forward to hearing all about their adventures when they return!

A friendly reminder to all families that it is essential to sign your child in or out through the school office if they arrive late or leave early. This ensures we maintain accurate attendance records and, most importantly, keep all students safe throughout the school day. I would appreciate you sharing this important message with anyone who picks your child up, including Grandparents, and support workers.

Warm regards,

Renée Zhu
